In zinc-deficient elderly men (n=9), supplementation nearly doubled testosterone (8.3 → 16.0 nmol/L, p=0.02) over 3-6 months. Conversely, inducing zinc deficiency in young men (n=4) dropped testosterone 73% (39.9 → 10.6 nmol/L). One of the most well-established nutrient-hormone relationships.
